What is the Lockton Insurance SDHR Member Scholarship Program?

The purpose of the Lockton Insurance SDHR Member Scholarship Program is to foster excellence in the San Diego human resources community by encouraging and assisting in the professional development of our members. 

Our mission is to raise donations from companies who wish to show their support to the local HR Community. 100% of these funds will be invested directly to SDHR HR Professional members for HR related educational programs, such as UCSD HR Leadership and HR Certificate programs or to take HR Certification exams, such as PHR, SPHR, GPHR and CA distinctions.

SDHR would like to thank the San Diego business community for supporting our mission. We have named our program in recognition of the generous founding sponsorship by Sallie Giblin of Lockton Insurance that allowed us to build this program for the HR community. We need more companies to sponsor $2,000 each to this program. Every sponsorship means that more HR professionals can get certified or receive education that will create more HR executives and leaders in the community. We would also like to thank UCSD HR Leadership programs and HR Certificate programs for their generous donation of a large discount per student, to allow us to provide scholarships to more members.

General Information

• SDHR will present awards quarterly to current HR Professional members selected.
• A Scholarship Committee made up of members, sponsors and BOD will select scholarship winners based on available funds and applications in order to support as many HR members as possible on a quarterly basis.
• Scholarships will awarded for HR related education expenses (class tuition, fees and books) and HR related certification exams (PHR, SPHR, GPHR, CA) .
• Scholarships may be full or partial payments or reimbursements. Recipients will be notified of scholarship amounts at the time of award.
• Scholarship winners must provide proof of completion with a passing grade of C or better, or when appropriate, a certificate of accomplishment.
• Scholarships must be applied to courses taken within 6 months from the date of award or will be forfeited.
